These short videos introduce different aspects of our services for students with disabilities.
The Disability and Learning Support Service is here to help if you have study support needs related to a disability, including dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties, mental health conditions, or other health conditions.
If you have a disability, including specific learning difficulties, mental health and other health conditions, you should tell the University Disability and Learning Support Service as soon as possible to ensure that any support needs can be identified and appropriate provision discussed.
If you choose not to disclose your disability, you may not be able to access the full range of support available to you.
Worried about your mental health or someone else’s? One in four people will experience some sort of mental health difficulty in their lifetime, particularly during stressful times like starting university or leaving home. Confidential advice is available from mental health advisors who are qualified practitioners with a wealth of experience in supporting students.
The Disability and Learning Support Service offers support for students with dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and other specific learning difficulties.
There are also video resources to help you settle into university and make the most of your lectures and study time. These include advice on learning and study techniques.
The Student Disabilities Focus Group meets regularly to provide feedback to the University on how it can better support students with disabilities. As a member of this group, you will have real power to change how the University supports students with disabilities.
Special arrangements can be made for students who, due to a disability, cannot register online. If you fall into this category, please contact the registration helpline.
Our aim is to support you in achieving the highest possible academic standards, whilst also enabling you to fully participate in all aspects of University life.
If you are unsure how we might be able to help, contact us and we will be able to point you in the right direction.
