Scholarships for international students

There are a range of scholarships available to international students, offered by both the University and a number of external organisations.  Most of these scholarships are aimed to encourage and recognise academic excellence, and competition can be fierce, therefore we would recommend that you look into their availability as early as possible.  More information on all international scholarships can be obtained from the scholarships page on the International Relations website.

University of Birmingham Scholarships

The University of Birmingham attracts students of the highest calibre and is pleased to offer a range of scholarships to reward outstanding academic achievement. These scholarships are available for both undergraduate and postgraduate taught masters students. Generally, in order to be eligible for consideration, candidates must:

  • Be classified as ‘overseas’ for fees purposes

  • Have applied for a place to study at the University of Birmingham by a designated date

  • Select Birmingham as their firm choice through UCAS (for undergraduates) or accept an offer of a place on a one-year masters degree (for postgraduates)

  • Complete and submit a scholarship application form (together with copies of academic transcripts and at least one academic reference for postgraduates) by the designated closing deadline

As stated above, scholarships will be awarded on academic excellence by a selection panel.

Please visit the International Relations scholarships web page for further details.

For general international funding enquiries, please contact Peter Jordan on 0121 414 2705 or email international-scholarships@bham.ac.uk.

Some schools and departments also offer their own partial scholarships, for which you may be eligible to apply.  Please log onto the website for the department you are applying to for current details of awards offered.
