What we've done

  • A presentation entitled 'Who wants to be a Student Millionaire?' was developed and delivered by the Student Funding Office which invited participants to vote on ten money-related questions. Results were recorded using the interactive response system (TurningPoint) and feedback forms were collected so that participants could be entered into a free prize draw.

  • A financial capability presentation entitled 'Money too tight to mention' was delivered in order to help develop budgeting skills and financial awareness.

  • 'Taste Test' sessions were conducted during student registration that invited participants to taste two samples of seven different items of food or drink; one being a premium brand and the other being from the economy range, in order to raise awareness of good budgeting practice.

  • In order to promote National Student Money Week, members of the Student Funding Office manned a stand in the Muirhead Tower atrium, encouraging students to add their own money saving tips to a ‘Money Tree’ with the best tip, as judged by the team, winning a £25 book voucher.
