Equipment loan pool

The Disability and Learning Support Service operates an equipment loan scheme for students with disabilities, to include specific learning difficulties, mental health difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders or Asperger's syndrome and other health conditions.

Who can borrow equipment?

Any student with a disability, including dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties, mental health and other health conditions.

Priority is given to students who are ineligible for Disabled Students’ Allowances or who are waiting for their own equipment.

What equipment is available?

Our range of equipment includes:

  • Laptop computers
  • Digital voice recorders
  • Infra-red receiver units for hearing assistance systems
  • Handheld spellcheckers and dictionaries
  • Mind-mapping software
  • Speech recognition software
  • Ergonomic equipment
  • Screen-reading and enlargement software
  • Portable magnifiers and CCTV systems
