PSA Supporters

The Personal Skills Award is supported by a range of private and public sector organisations. This gives you as a PSA student access to network with graduate recruiters. Please see below for information about these organisations and their involvement with the PSA.

Employer Engagement is important for students because:

  • It gives you a direct insight into what employers are looking for in graduates.
  • Keeps you updated with the current graduate recruitment market.
  • Gives you access to current job opportunities.
  • You can build your employability skills by attending workshops and skills sessions.

Our current PSA Supporters are:

At PwC we are not just looking for one type of person but for those from many different backgrounds with a variety of skills. We have core competencies that we look for and it is not just the degree you can offer but also ideas and enthusiasm you can bring. Applicants who stand out are those who have done research and are well-prepared. We are interested in your potential to develop.

As a major employer of graduate trainees, PwC recognises the important role played by the Careers and Employability Centre at Birmingham University in producing high-calibre, motivated individuals, who are ready to enter the world of financial services. We are pleased to be supporting the Personal Skills Award.

Teach First is pleased to be sponsoring the Personal Skills Award,  which gives talented students the opportunity to develop, reflect upon and articulate key transferable skills. We recognise the attributes that students will gain from the PSA as critical to the success of Teach First. When we recruit graduates to join our Leadership Development Programme, we are looking for outstanding individuals who demonstrate energy, enthusiasm, confidence and leadership – all of which can be developed through undertaking the PSA.

As an employer of choice for many graduates, we receive a high number of applications each year and applicants need to be able to stand out; graduates who can show they have taken advantage of experiences such as the Personal Skills Award have a definite advantage.

Birmingham Community Health NHS Trust offers a wide range of community health services to the population of South Birmingham, and across the city and the region. We have a long history of working in partnership with our local education providers, and are fully supportive of the PSA programme for a number of reasons.

Firstly, the programme offers an excellent opportunity for students to develop skills that supplement their academic programmes, and enables them to become even more confident as individuals when dealing with work and life situations. It also supports students to develop that extra “edge” when competing for jobs, skills which are crucial in todays job market.

We are keen to attract applicants from our local education providers and can offer a wide range of interesting and challenging careers, not all of them medical or clinical. By working together with the university we can hopefully grow our workforce of the future.
