Presenting Yourself With Impact Module

This module is a welcome opportunity for you to develop the art of selling yourself to employers and help you develop your written and verbal communication skills.

You will learn how to write covering letters and CVs that will help you get that all important job interview. You will have the opportunity to practice answers to interview questions and gain tips from an employer as well as tutors on the module.

Public speaking and delivering an effective presentation isn't a skill that many people are born with. It is something that you have to work on and develop. This module allows you to practice your presentation skills, so when you're asked to deliver a presentation as part of a job interview, or even as part of your degree you will have gained the skills to deliver with confidence.

Syllabus will include

  • Writing a covering letter and CV
  • Interview practice
  • How to deliver an effective presentation.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the module you should be able to

  •  Identify and discuss different models for the production of CVs and covering letters, then produce, get feedback and reflect on an appropriate CV and covering letter targeted towards a specific job area
  •  Demonstrate how to effectively prepare for a first interview with an employer and be able to structure appropriate answers to a range of interview questions
  •  Research, prepare and deliver a presentation appropriate to the context of the PSA module, demonstrating effective use of visual aids.

Assessment

  • Four reflective accounts (500 words each) 50%
  • Portfolio (30%)
  • Presentation (20%).

Credit Award

  • 10 Credits
