International Communication and Cross-Cultural Awareness Module
This module will enhance your ability to communicate with people from different cultures. You will gain an in-depth knowledge of another student's culture and understand your own culture from an outsider's point of view.
What you will cover on the course:
You and one or two students from a different culture will meet on a weekly basis for one term. During these meetings you will discuss the similarities and differences between your cultures and examine subjects such as culture shock.
You will be asked to organise an activity that will introduce the other student to an aspect of your own culture.
Learning Outcomes
Have in-depth knowledge of another student’s culture
Have an understanding of their own culture from an outsider’s point of view
Have the necessary level of cultural understanding to work and communicate with people from different cultures
Have the necessary level of cultural understanding to integrate someone from a different culture in your own social network
Be able to reflect on your experience of sharing your own culture and an understanding of an outsider’s perspective of experiencing aspects of their own culture.

A personal written log (50%)
Final informal interview/discussion with two assessors. (50%)
