Information for staff

The Personal Skills Award is the University of Birmingham's employability Award. It is an optional Award for undergraduate students.

In 2010 the PSA was the first University to be awarded the 'Best Graduate Development Preparation in Higher Education Award' by the Association of Graduate Recruiters (an organisation that represents over 800 graduate recruiting organisations).

Completing the Award

  • Undergraduate students can complete the Personal Skills Award through choosing the PSA (Modular) pathway, which involves taking three Level 1 Modules, in key transferable skills, across two academic years.
  • We will require a Personal Tutor's signature for the PSA (Modular) pathway to ensure the student is able to take on the additional assessment.
  • Undergraduate students can also complete the Award through the PSA (Activity) pathway, which allows them to gain recognition for involvement in extra-curricular activities conducive to developing their employability.
  • We will not require a Personal Tutor's signature for the PSA (Activity) pathway as there is no accredited assessment
