PSA (Advanced) Pathway

If you are involved in a significant amount of activities, you can aim for the PSA (Advanced). You will complete the criteria of either the PSA (Modular) or the PSA (Activity), with further engagement in extra-curricular activities.

Who should aim for the PSA (Advanced)

The PSA (Advanced) is for students who have completed either the PSA (Activity) pathway or the PSA (Modular) pathway, and who have been involved in a significant number of extra-curricular activities. To complete the PSA (Advanced) you will need to be an extremely committed, dedicated and focused student.

How does the PSA (Advanced) work?

To aim for the PSA (Advanced) you will need to:
  • Attend a minimum of two Employer-led Workshops. These are workshops run by employers and no PSA points are awarded for attendance. Employer-led workshops are different to the Employability workshops (which are run by the PSA team).  Information on how to sign up to these workshops will be available at the start of the Autumn term.
  • Fulfil all the criteria of either the PSA (Modular) pathway or the PSA (Activity pathway)
  • Earn a minimum of 100 (additional) PSA points; a minimum of 10 of these need to be from work experience or voluntary activity
  • Successfully complete a competency related application form based on the types of application forms you may encounter when making an application for a job.
  • If you are successful in completing the competency-based form, you will then attend an employer-led 'interview'; you will need to successfully pass this interview to achieve the PSA (Advanced)

Before you register

Please note that:

  • From the 100 extra PSA Points that you need to earn ( in addition to fulfilling the criteria of either the modular or activity pathways) at least 10 of these points must come from work experience or volunteering
  • The (PSA) Advanced pathway does not appear on your transcript; the only items to appear on your transcript are PSA modules (if you have taken the PSA (Modular) pathway as part of the Advanced Award).
  • You will be expected to attend an employer-led panel interview. We will be providing training on interview techniques before the interviews take place
