There are several ways in which the University can support you when you are applying for a visa.
You will need a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) statement as part of your application for a UK visa, whether you are applying for a new visa or extending your visa. CAS statement are handled by the Enquiry Services Counter if you are a returning student. If you are a new student you will get your CAS from the Admissions Office
ISAS is the University's student immigration advice service, where trained immigration advisers can assist students with visa applications for Student visas, Student Visitor visas and Student Dependant visas. ISAS can send Student visa and Student Dependant visas applications to the UKBA (Home Office) on students' behalf, and can also provide immigration advice on any issue relating to student immigration.
The Points-Based System (PBS) was introduced in 2009 and is used by the United Kingdom (UK) Government for managing applications from those wishing to enter the UK for work or study.
Enquiry Services can provide you with documentation to support your visa applications for foreign countries when you are visiting them during your time at the University of Birmingham. These visits may be made in relation to your course or during the vacations between semesters.
