Transcripts

Information about academic transcripts and how to get them.

What is a transcript?

A transcript is a summary of a student's academic performance and progress to date.  It lists the modules that you took and the marks you obtained, providing a more detailed overview of your academic achievements than your degree certificate. You may need a copy of your transcript for employment, further education or immigration purposes.

How can I get a transcript?

Official transcripts are charged at £5 per copy and can be ordered from the University of Birmingham Online Shop. Most students and alumni will be able to obtain an official transcript in this way. However, if you started your course before 1997, we recommend that you check with us first that your results are available before placing your order. See the links below for full details:

Erasmus and exchange students

In order for us to produce an official transcript of the modules you studied and the marks you received during your time at the University of Birmingham, it is important that you complete a transcript request form confirming the modules that you have attended and that you expect to receive a mark for. Without this information, we will be unable to verify that your transcript is an accurate record of your studies here, which may lead to errors in the reporting of marks to your home institution.

Please note that we will automatically send an official transcript to your home University once all of your marks have been confirmed. You are entitled to request one additional copy of your transcript for your own records free of charge. If you would like a copy of your transcript to be sent to your home address, please complete the address details at the end of the transcript request form.
