Information on how to request a reference for a student or former student of the University of Birmingham.
If you are seeking education verification of one of our students then we can provide the following information:
We cannot provide verification of marks or comment on the student's academic ability or character, although staff from the student's school or department may be able to assist with requests such as this.
To request a reference from us please send an email to references@contacts.bham.ac.uk clearly stating the candidate's name and date of birth. It may help if you can also provide us with the dates of attendance and course studied.
Alternatively, you can fax the reference request to us on +44 (0)121 414 7927.
We aim to turnaround references within five working days. Please also be aware that in most cases we will require signed consent from the student before we can release information.
Transcripts for students
If you're a student or former student of the University then we can provide you with an academic transcript which lists the modules you've taken and the grades you've achieved. It also quotes your overall grade and, if applicable, your graduation date. This is not available to third party organisations.
