Enterprising your PSA

Developing your entrepreneurial skills and understanding can contribute towards your Personal Skills Award. Entrepreneurship and Innovation are offering two enterprising modules and the opportunity to earn points towards the PSA activity pathway.

PSA modular pathway

Entrepreneurship and Innovation will be running two core modules that will award you points towards the Personal Skills Award. If you are interested in enterprise and improving your employability for once you graduate, these are for you.

Enterprising behaviour and ideas generation

This module allows you to develop the necessary skills to behave and act in an enterprising way, and introduces you to business planning skills.

Leadership and teamwork skills

This module provides an opportunity for you to gain an understanding of the qualities of an effective leader and the range of individual behaviours exhibited by team members in an effective team. You will also develop team work skills that you will be able to transfer into work and social life.

PSA activity pathway

Earn points for the Personal Skills Award by getting involved in any of these enterprising activities:

SPEED programme participant

Completion of  a business plan and application form; successful candidates promoted to selection panel and undertake in-depth interview. Successful candidates are enrolled on the programme.

Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) active member

Appointed on the basis of CV/Application form or elected to their role.

Student enterprise champion

Lead one of the following:

  • Organising a high profile event
  • Leading a team representing the University in a competition
  • Founding an enterprise society
  • Leading a team carrying out enterprise activity with recognised social benefits
  • Representing the University in a forum
  • Promoting and running an enterprise competition

Creating an enterprise start-up outside of the SPEED programme

Demonstrate you are one of the following:

  • Trustee of a registered charity
  • Director of a trading limited company
  • A partner in a constituted partnership
  • A sole trader

Participant in the Enterprise Skills Series

Attend a minimum of six, 3-hour sessions; Submit a business plan and personal action plan.

Simventure Workshops

Attend a 2 hour workshop to experience running a virtual business start-up and develop your enterprise knowledge.

Plan B competition

Submit your entry and get shortlisted to present your idea to a judging panel to earn points.
