The Postgraduate Enterprise Summer School (PESS) is an intensive week-long training course developed specifically for Doctoral Researchers which takes from Monday 23rd July to Friday 27th July 2012.
It covers a range of topics related to enterprise and entrepreneurship including innovation, business planning and strategy, marketing, financing as well as communication, presentation and networking skills.
The Postgraduate Enterprise Summer School takes Doctoral Researchers from a wide range of specialist areas through a series of interactive professional skills training sessions. The training takes place over one week - Monday to Friday, and each day is packed full of interactive workshops, internal and external trainers, guest speakers and activities.
Throughout the week you will work in teams to create an innovative new product or service. Using the skills you learn throughout the week, you will research the idea thoroughly and prepare a pitch which will be judged by a panel of business-savvy individuals.
Please note that this training programme outline is intended to give a general overview of the topics covered during the week and will be subject to amendment. We advise that until the final course content is confirmed (February 2012) that you keep the full week free; this includes Monday to Thursday evenings as there will be one evening event taking place.
It should also be noted that this course is intensive and team members may choose to work together or individually outside of these times.
