Have you got a well researched business idea and reached the point of 'where do I go now'? Entrepreneurship and Innovation can help guide you in the right direction through offering advice and one-to-one business readiness coaching.
One way we can help you develop your idea for a commercial business or a social enterprise, is through one-to-one meetings, or 'business readiness coaching'. We can 'kick the tyres' of your plans to see where they are sound and where there are weaknesses. We can't be experts in every field of business but we are good at sniffing out many of the common problems and risks encountered by start-ups or freelancers. We also have extensive networks of people who can lend their advice and support and will make referrals where appropriate. We are quite creative and will often help you think of new or better ways of doing things. We can work with you at any stage of the start-up process and into the early stages of operating a trading business.
We are not qualified business advisors, accountants or lawyers and for this type of advice you will need to seek other sources. However, if you are at the stage where you need expert support, we can point you in the right direction.
We will not share your intellectual property with members of the public or other students unless given your permission to do so. However, there may be occasions when we need to consult with other members of the University to ensure that your ideas and actions do not conflict with the interests of the University or our duty of care to you. Incubation programmes and ideas competitions may offer the opportunity to sign a confidentiality or non-disclosure agreement.
To ensure we can offer the best possible advice in a one-to-one, we first need to know some information about your business idea. You will need to fill in an online form about your idea and our got a business idea webpage will guide you through this process and inform you how to prepare.
