Students' Slam Screen Media Success

It’s been just over a year and half since University of Birmingham student Chris Haill and his three colleagues created Slam Screen Media: a film production and media services company operating in Birmingham and Hampshire. Split into two sections, the company produces both short and feature films, as well as offering a variety of client services: from advertisements to documentaries to event coverage.

The team has seen several early successes within the fictional film scene: with their latest short “Thundermaus” winning ‘Best Film 2011’ and receiving another 5 nominations at the 2011 DVMision.

The team has also produced work for a variety of clients, including the Andy Warhol Collection, the Rose Road Association and Subway.

Chris took up a place on the EI SPEED programme last year and was able to secure £2000 in funding for the business.  Speaking of his experience in the programme Chris said: “The funding and support from the SPEED programme and University have been invaluable to our success. There’s no doubt that the money has been extremely useful, but the office facilities and guidance provided have also been of great help.”
