Dentistry

Summary of statistics

The destinations statistics from our 2009/10 clinical dentistry undergraduates are consistent with previous years’ information. There were no unemployed respondents; they were either the employed or working and studying or taking time out. Graduates from clinical dentistry are encouraged to go straight into junior dentists’ positions which include further vocational training as General Dental Practitioners and must be registered by the General Dental Council as Dental Practitioners before commencing in these posts.

DLHE statistics - undergraduates

78% of undergraduate dentistry students who graduated in 09/10 were in employment six months after graduation.  19% went on to combine work and further study leaving 3% engaged in other activity such as taking time out.  There were no unemployed undergraduate dentistry students.

DLHE statistics - postgraduates

72% of postgraduate dentists graduating in 09/10 were in full time employment 6 months after graduation.  14% went on to combine work with further study.  7% chose to continue their studies on a full time basis.  7% were still seeking work at the time of the survey.
