The DLHE survey is conducted 6 months after graduation.

Sport and Exercise Sciences

Summary of statistics

A significant number of Sport and Exercise science graduates go straight in to sport related employment, with the majority working as instructors, coaches and personal trainers. Such occupations can frequently provide the experience required for more senior and managerial positions within the sport sector where there are few graduate training schemes.

The remainder of graduates entering employment are working in a wide variety of roles including marketing, recruitment consultancy and insurance which shows that many students will use transferable skills developed through their degree such as analytical, problem solving, team work and communication skills.

A number of students choose to pursue further study. Some students are undertaking sport and exercise science-related courses, which reflect the need to specialise at postgraduate level for some sport-related careers. Other students are pursuing courses that will enable them to enter areas such as law and physiotherapy; teaching remains a popular choice for these students.
