Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education report, 2007

The DLHE survey is conducted 6 months after graduation.

Social Policy

Summary of statistics

The skills you’ll gain from studying social policy and social work are ones that are highly sought after in most jobs or professions. Both degree programmes develop analytical skills and the ability to gather, assess and interpret data, all of which require clear and logical thinking.

In 2007 our Social Policy graduates entered a wide range of occupational sectors, the majority in the public sector in areas such as youth work but others including events, sales, administration and education. Graduates also opt to continue with further study/training. This is largely explained by a drive to acquire more specialist qualifications which are necessary for certain careers such as teaching.

Of the Social Work graduates virtually all enter employment as social workers, the majority staying in the West Midlands.
