About Learning Spaces

Learning Spaces is responsible for the design, development, management and allocation of all centrally managed teaching rooms, as well as several open access study areas such as the Link and the Nuffield Open Learning Suite. These and other spaces are supported by a team of highly skilled and experienced staff.

Key services

Development

  • The Learning Spaces development team pride themselves on the emphasis they place on innovation and recognise the importance of meeting the constantly evolving needs of both staff and students.   The creation of technology rich, innovative learning environments as part of the University’s rolling programme of learning space development has radically changed the perception of what can be achieved in classroom design, responding not only to technological advancements but also to a growing shift in pedagogic ideals.

Projects

  • Ongoing projects such as the Innovations Laboratory and the Learning Environments Initiative aim to further develop the culture of experimentation in the use of space design and technology in teaching.  By collaborating with academic staff in the work that we do, we can ensure that we continue to provide spaces which are high quality, appropriate, sustainable and well supported.
